“We have lived in our converted coach house in Wetherby for 10 years. During that time I’ve always had the idea of creating some sort of mezzanine or balcony space in the roof, to take advantage of the building’s long roof span and the 3m ceilings of the upstairs rooms.
Many architects, builders and loft converters had looked at my idea (and examined the roof) over the years, and everyone had always concluded it wasn’t possible.

It was not a simple conversion. We live in a conservation area and the building is listed. Shane and Nik submitted the plans for us and worked with the planning office to get the green light on the loft conversion.
From the day they arrived to start the work I totally trusted that they would do an amazing job. They kept me updated every step of the way and did what they could to keep my house clean and tidy throughout.
I had very set ideas (and quite quirky ones too!) on what I wanted and Extra Space was able to deliver on everything – even my exposed industrial beam, black matte staircase, crittall balcony, and the biggest roof lights I could find. Bonus: they managed it all within my set budget.
The space they’ve created has changed the way we live. It is absolutely stunning. It has created a whole new floor for my work and chill-out space, with a gorgeous view across the fields and beyond. All this was done at a very reasonable cost and with a smile every day. Phil the plasterer, especially, was outstanding – and makes it look so easy!
